Owens Sound @little Cayman
NOTE: This is the ONLY place in the Caymans you can anchor. All other locations must be used with a mooring ball.
when we were there
Where we dropped our hook:
19º 39′ 33″ N 80º 04′ 28″ W
6 feet in sand
During low tide we would touch the bottom
There are a few dive ball moorings available
Good holding in sand
Watch for random coral heads throughout the anchorage
Easy beach landing. The dock is too high to use and has no ladder. Leave dinghy on beach, tie painter to tree or use dinghy anchor
Watch for eel grass and coral heads when close to the beach, very shallow
Little Cayman Beach Resort will let you use their pool, spa and internet. They have a full bar and restaurant.
PROVISION BEFORE GETTING TO THE CAYMANS! There is only 1 grocery store and 1 liquor store on the island, both are very expensive.
- Scuba Diving
- Bird Watching
The island is tiny and all the locals are very friendly.
Use common sense and don’t leave belongings out for the taking.
Sunny and Warm
Breezy, 15 – 25 knts E & ENE
Mosquitos were extremely bad at dusk when on land but no issues out at the boat
The island is only 10 miles by 1 mile, walking is the best form of transportation. A bicycle is a great way to see other parts of the island.
Hitch hiking is also popular and easy
