Chacala, Mexico

P2180738-1

When we were there: February 2016

Where we anchored: 20-25 feet sand.  21 09’50″N 105 13’38″W, along with a stern hook to keep our bow into the swell.

About: When you picture the perfect Mexico tropical anchorage in your head, I’m sure it would look just like Chacala. We spent over a week in this anchorage. The little beach restaurants are delicious, the little markets have pretty much everything you need to kept you fed, and plenty of beer and wine.  It’s was enjoyable to watch families and kids play on the beach and waves, while locals walk up and down the beach selling items from ice cream to hand made blankets. This little town is very enjoyable and worth the stop.

What was the water like: The water is warm but not to clear.

Dinghy Landing: Easy, there is a small little beach next to the ponga pier, which you can tie your dinghy to a tree then use the path along the water to get to the main beach and town.

Would we come back: YES

Would we recommend people going: YES 100%
