Mainland Mexico Anchorages

Melaque, Mexico

When we were there: End of March 2016

Where we anchored: 20-25ft sand bottom good holding 19 13′ 10″N 104 42′ 41″W

About: Located just 2 miles away from the lagoon, this anchorage sits right in front of loud late night beach bars.  We anchored here only because it was blowing 25 knots and the tide was going out so getting into the lagoon was not an option.

What was the water like: We had horrible brown muck looking water. Apparently the water in this cove is crystal clear normally and offers good snorkeling.

Dinghy Landing: Didn’t try

Would we come back: Maybe, but not to spend the night it was to loud

Would we recommend people going: Most likely no
