Owens Sound @ little Cayman
NOTE: This is the ONLY place in the Caymans you can anchor. All other locations must be used with a mooring ball.
when we were there
May 2017
Full moon
Spring tides
Anchor spot
Where we dropped our hook:
19º 39′ 33″ N 80º 04′ 28″ W
6 feet in sand
During low tide we would touch the bottom
There are a few dive ball moorings available
Holding
Good holding in sand
Watch for random coral heads throughout the anchorage
Dinghy landing
Easy beach landing. The dock is too high to use and has no ladder. Leave dinghy on beach, tie painter to tree or use dinghy anchor
Watch for eel grass and coral heads when close to the beach, very shallow
