Mainland Mexico Anchorages

Isla Venados (Deer Island) Mazatlán

When we were there:  January 2016

Where we anchored: 16-20ft over sand (maybe some rock) around 23 14’07″N 106 27’44″W.

About:  We anchored here for one night before we headed into the marina. It was very beautiful and the weather was calm, with only a little swell wrapping around the island.   The beach is filled with people during the day, but is quite at night. Although it was a quick stop for us, it was the first anchorage after leaving the Sea of Cortez that made us feel like we were heading into the tropics.

What was the water like: Clear and warm

Dinghy landing: Easy on the beach

Would we come back: Yes

Would we recommend people going: Yes
