I dropped Jon off at Sea-Tac airport around 4pm, which took us about 20 min to get to. Took me a while to figure out that you could get in and out of the car pool lane at any time. It is just a solid white line the whole time! It was a trip to Arizona back in 2007 and a phone call to my friend Kelly, I called to asked her about the solid white line for the car pool lane, and she told me you could go in or out at any time. Why cant they bring that traffic “law” into California, I don’t know about you but I hate waiting for that stupid double yellow line to break so I can make my exit. Any who, it took me over an hour to get back home, I felt like i was leaving LAX. Once I got back to the boat I made dinner, had facetime with Lisa and AJ, well tried to… the Internet here is more than slow. So I called it an early night.
May 16 –
I get to really clean the boat today. Starting in the head cause that is the only place I have not un-packed yet. I didn’t think that all the toiletries were going to fit, but then i remembered that we own a HC33 and of course it would all fit with a lot of room left over. I put everything in its place and started on the wood. SO MUCH WOOD! The teak inside was in desperate need of a good oil, so from cabin sole to cabin top I dusted and oiled the whole boat, which took me all day! On a bad note, my back started to act up again, I called a near by chiropractor and made an appointment for Monday to get x-rays done, to find out if my old injuries are back with a vengeance. BUT the boat shines and looks so pretty, I think it was worth it 🙂 Once i was done with the wood I waited around till i needed to go get Jon. Around 8pm when Jon’s plane should have been leaving, he gave me a call and said his plane is delayed and was not going to live for another hour, which would put him back in Seattle around 11pm. Ten minutes later i got another call.. another delay and then another. He is not going to be back in Seattle till 1am. Great! It was nice and clear around 8:45 when I was going to leave, then it was raining and right before i had to leave it cleared up again which was great besides the fact that each step i took was killing me… yep I’m pretty sure I threw out my back. Darn it! I had to meet with Jon no mater what cause I had to bring him some of his camera gear he would need for the up coming shoot. So we were going to go back to the boat, but why do that when we have to be back at the airport in 5 hours? We grabbed a room at a near by hotel and we were both sleep within minutes of hitting the pillows.
May 17- It’s Friday, we woke up early and I dropped Jon off once again at the airport. Every step I take hurts like a b*tch sorry for my french, but there is no other way to describe it. Once I got back to the boat I slowly got into bed and didn’t move for the rest of the day besides to take a shower before bed. I went to bed early cause I have a early morning, I need to be back in Olympia for a boaters swap meet at 6am.
May 18-Saturday. my alarm goes off at 5:00. I slowly get out of bed and i already know that today is going to hurt, a lot. I make a pot of coffee and get dressed, which if anyone could see I’m sure they would have been laughing caused i looked pretty pathetic. I started to walk to the car by 5:20 and got to the car by 5:50. I was walking like an old lady! At one point an old man who was on his morning jog came up from behind me and said “ouch you are making me hurt, that’s why I keep running to make sure I don’t look or feel like you when I move” he introduced himself said lives on his islander 36 then went on about his morning jog. He was nice, but as he jogged away I wanted to throw something at him. Once I made it to Olympia I asked a few guys to help unload my car, I had a lot of heavy things to carry over to my spot. Our friend Sam who also has a HC33 puts this boaters swap meet on every year. The people that were there and the people who came by to buy were all very nice and it was a great way to spend a Saturday. However you could tell that I am not from Washington cause everyone else had a pop-up tent to cover their stuff, and it was not till I got there that I remembered it was going to rain.
Which it did, a lot. Thank goodness for marmot waterproof jackets! Around 1pm the rain stopped but so did the traffic of buyers. Despite the rain I did good, out of everything I brought I didn’t sell 3 things, 2 of which ( a bruce anchor and a huge light wind sail) didn’t really matter cause I can still use them. Three very nice gentleman who had noticed I was babying my back all day offered to help me pack up and they loaded the last 3 items back into my car. I made just over a grand by selling things I didn’t need, man I should do that more often!

I made it back to Tacoma by 3pm and sat in the parking lot that is only about 3 feet away from the gate to our dock, and really thought about spending the $12.00 a day to leave my car there. But I didn’t want to spend the money, (Jon must be rubbing off on me or something) and then come back up and pay for the next day and so on. I drove my car back over to the other side and slowly made my way back to the boat one baby or should i say one old lady step at a time. I wish it was Sunday so that Monday could be closer so I can go get my back checked out. I got back to the boat and crawled into bed and once again I didn’t move for the rest of the day, Jon called me to say good night and hopes my back feels better. I told him I would rather be grinding fiberglass… naked… than to have my back feel the way it does.
May 19
Yep woke up this morning.. well more like afternoon, and my back is still no good! I am taking it way easy today, made some breakfast and maybe I’ll lay on the deck for a little bit, looks like the sun is out and I am sure I need some good old vitamin D. Hopefully the doc tomorrow can tell me whats going on with my back and tell me how we can fix it.
